
Barbara is a Northern California artist with a lifelong passion for realistic art. Working exclusively in oils, she mostly devotes her time to painting what inspires her most, wildlife. Barbara has always had a love for nature and the outdoors. One of her main goals is to capture the spirit of the individual animal in her work. She spends a lot of time hiking, visiting zoos, animal preserves, and museums for subjects and inspiration.
She studied Fine Art at College of Marin, and later graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a degree in Illustration. She has been working to develop her technique, and create a solid inventory of work.
Barbara has won several International awards including: Finalist and Meritorious Entries Award in the Richeson 75 International Still Life and Floral Competition, Honorable Mention in Artists Magazine's International 37th Annual Art Competition, Semi-Finalist in the Art Renewal Center's 15th International ARC Salon Competition. In addition, Barbara's painting 'Rough Around The Edges' was a finalist in the ARC 16th International Salon Competition, and two semi-finalists awards in the Art Renewal Center's 17 International ARC Salon Competition. Also one finalist and one semi-finalists award in the Richeson75 Birds and Wildlife International Art Competition in 2023, and a third place award in 2024.
Her work has appeared in Artists Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, Richeson 75 International Still Life and Floral Competition catalog, and Southwest Art Magazine. Two of her paintings appeared in the August/September issue of Southwest Art Magazine's article, "Women in Art". One of Barbara's paintings appeared in the 2023 May/June issue of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine.
Barbara is an Signature member of the Society of Animal Artists. Her painting "Sienna Eyes" was included in their 2023 group exhibition at The Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling, West Virginia. "Waldrapp Ibis" was displayed at the SAA special show 'Wildlife Wonders' Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tuscon, Arizona. Her painting "Almost Ready For Takeoff" was shown in the 64th annual SAA exhibition at the Sioux City Public Museum in Sioux City, Iowa. Also "Amur Leopard" was shown in the SAA special show, A Boundless World" at the Phoenix Zoo in Arizona in 2025. Her recent painting "Beach Bums" will be shown at the 65th annual SAA exhibition at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. "Rough Around the Edges" was selected for the SAA special annual show at The Monument Arts and Cultural Center in Bennington, Vermont.
